This is where we work
Programme countriesIn September 2005 Shia’s governing body came to a decision on the countries in which future activities should be concentrated. The necessity of reducing the number of countries has arisen out of a desire to increase the possibilities of monitoring the general situation and coordinating the work both in Sweden, and in the partner countries. The idea is that in the first instance this decision will apply for the next six years, it will then be evaluated and if necessary reviewed. As the world is constantly changing, possibilities do however exist for cooperation in countries other than those that are currently on the list. If three or more member organisations apply for funding for a project or preplanning – together or singly – in the same country, this country can be added to the list. These are our programme countries: Africa Ethiopia Kenya Tanzania South Africa Uganda Asia Laos Nepal Sri Lanka Vietnam Latin America Bolivia Brazil Nicaragua Europe Bosnia
Global and regional projectsGlobal and regional projects are not linked to one single country, but comprise a number of countries. Global and regional projects therefore fall outside the programme countries presented above. However, there are a number of criteria for these types of project too:The partner organisation must be the main organisation in a regional or global structure, or in one of the regions in a global structure. The regional or global structure must be a registered organisation – a so-called international or federation. All project cooperation in a regional or global project must go through the partner organisation. No payments or agreements will be made with any of the individual member organisations in the coalition. The partner organisation in regional or global projects can only supply support to member organisations within its own structure, not to organisations which are not part of the coalition. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
